Ambitious Plan for 300MW of New Data Center Capacity by 2026
Quantum Switch Tamasuk (QST), specializing in data center development and operation, has signed a major agreement with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to significantly expand the nation’s data center capacity. The plan outlines the development and operation of six new 50MW data centers, totaling 300MW, by 2026. This ambitious project will po
sition the Kingdom as a leader in digitalization across the region.
Supporting Digital Infrastructure Initiatives and Start-Ups
This agreement with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) will accelerate the Kingdom’s digital transformation. QST’s data centers will not only cater to hyperscale cloud providers, international gaming and media platforms, and global content delivery networks but also support government digital infrastructure initiatives. Furthermore, preferential rates will be offered to Saudi Arabian-owned start-ups, fostering innovation within the Kingdom’s digital economy.
Creating High-Skill Jobs for Saudi Nationals
The design, construction, and operation of these new facilities will generate demand for a highly skilled workforce. QST is committed to ensuring that at least one-third of these new roles are filled by Saudi Arabian nationals. The company will implement dedicated training and skills development programs, further investing in a local workforce and ensuring that the Kingdom benefits directly from the creation of high-skill, high-value jobs.
Sustainable Data Centers with Renewable Energy
Both QST and MCIT are committed to sustainability. The new data centers will incorporate cutting-edge designs to minimize cooling requirements. Additionally, MCIT will collaborate with QST to develop and secure renewable energy sources, further enhancing sustainability. This initiative will create significant demand for new green energy, with both parties actively exploring the feasibility of connecting solar PV facilities to the data centers.
